Spittoon is a Beijing-based arts collective that connects Chinese and foreign writers, artists, and literary enthusiasts. We do events and programming throughout China and publish a literary magazine called Spittoon Literary Magazine and comic book called CUE. www.spittooncollective.com

We are looking for a self-motivated and creative intern who is enthusiastic about our mission to help us raise awareness about our publications and events through articles, flyers, and campaigns.

Responsibilities

Compose and design WeChat Official Account articles
Compose thought pieces for outside publications about Spittoon
Design awareness campaigns
Design flyers
Manage sales and distribution of publications
Represent Spittoon at events and art fairs

Required Skills

Good writer
Bachelor’s Degree

Preferred Qualities

Proficiency in Photoshop and/or InDesign
Intermediate to advanced Chinese language skills
Marketing experience
Driven
Very organized
Passionate about literature and/or Chinese-Western cultural exchange

What is Spittoon?

Spittoon is a Beijing-based arts collective that produces events and programming throughout China and publishes Spittoon Literary Magazine, all with the goal of bringing together Chinese and foreign writers, artists, and literary enthusiasts. We host regular literature events every Thursday in Beijing and a music-poetry collab event called Spittunes, as well as events in Shanghai, Xi'an, and Gothenberg, Sweden.

The Spittoon Literary Magazine is a biannual publication dedicated to bringing Chinese writing and art to an English-language audience. Our unique team of Western and Chinese writers seeks out, translates, and publishes China's best, most exciting new voices.
